Reasons To Take A Partner Yoga Class With Your Significant Other

by Jon Frazier

When people think of yoga, they often think of those who visit a yoga studio to do a series of poses on their own. While solo yoga is certainly common, there are a number of other types of yoga that you might wish to experience. If you have a significant other, partner yoga is a viable option that is offered at many yoga studios. In this type of yoga, you perform poses with the assistance of your partner; even if you have significantly different heights and weights, there are a number of poses that you can successfully execute together. Here are some reasons to take a partner yoga class with your significant other.

It Allows For Quality Time Together

If much of your daily routine involves rushing out the door, spending the day at work, coming home and rushing to get your kids off their extracurricular activities, you might not be making time for you and your spouse — and crashing on the couch for an hour each evening doesn't really count. A partner yoga class provides a perfect opportunity for some quality time together. You'll spend time in close quarters and enjoy cooperating on the poses that you're trying to execute. There's a strong likelihood that you'll feel closer to your partner at the end of the class because of this time spent together.

You'll Laugh Together

Laughing together brings you closer to your significant other, and there will be plenty of opportunities to laugh in your partner yoga class. Unlike standard yoga classes that are on the quiet side, partner yoga classes can be fun, action-packed events. People will often find some of the poses challenging, which will create a lot of laughter. Laughing can quickly reduce the stress that you might have experienced during the workday, and there's no one better to laugh with than your spouse.

You'll Feel More Physically Fit

Although partner yoga classes are a lot of fun, you'll also begin to build muscle as you take more classes. This can help you both be more physically fit, which can be to your advantage in a number of ways. For example, those who are fitter will often be more energetic, which can help your relationship if you're always feeling too tired to do anything beyond the daily routine. Additionally, the improved fitness that you each experience can begin to make each of you more physically attractive to the other person.
